How To Start Selling On Amazon STEP BY STEP For Beginners

– What’s up, guys, you already know, we’re back with the whiteboard today, so, in this video we’re gonna be talking about the step by step what you need to do to get started with Amazon FBA because there’s a lot of steps
and it can seem confusing. It’s pretty simple when it’s laid out. This is gonna be just a general overview. It does go more into detail,
I do have a course on it. It’ll be the first link in the description but if you’re new to
this, watch this video, watch a couple others and figure out if Amazon’s right for you. So, I’m gonna be trying to
do more whiteboard videos for you guys since you liked ’em. Hopefully, you can see,
if you need to, screenshot the whiteboard behind
me, I’ll move in a sec ’cause it’ll be, I’ll
have to erase this thing to get started but for
anyone who doesn’t know Amazon FBA is Fulfillment By Amazon, it’s a way of selling, it’s e-commerce, so, you find a product that sells well. You send it into Amazon, Amazon fulfills all orders for you, so, it goes, product from your supplier
straight to Amazon. You never touch it, they
fulfill all the orders for you. It’s very little work once you get going. It’s a little bit of work up
front to find the products but let’s jump into this and if you guys have any questions, feel free
to leave them in the comments and I’ll answer them,
so, let’s get started. Let’s make sure you guys can see. Alright, we’re good? We’re good, alright. What’s the first thing you need to do when starting Amazon? Well, you need to understand what it is, like I said before, it’s you
find a product that sells well, low competition, you find a supplier, you send it straight from
your supplier into Amazon. Amazon fulfills it, you create a listing and you get that listing to sell and your whole goal is to
try and rank that product for its main keywords. So, what’s the first thing you need to do when Amazon selling? Well, first thing is account setup. So, you do need to be
18 or older to do this because you need an EIN, however, you can have a parent sign you up. Now, if you need an EIN and
you don’t already have one, a lot of you already have
one if you’ve worked before, you probably have one,
however, it’s free to get. You can do it in two
minutes online, very simple. Just look up how to get an
EIN, that’s all you need. Now you don’t have to
have an LLC or insurance, however, if you do wanna go
the real, like, legit route, the best way, I do recommend that. It’s not necessary, as far as LLC goes, I use LegalZoom to do that. It’s a couple hundred dollars. You can do it yourself, it’s a pain. I did that with my first one and you can do product
liability insurance if you want. Haven’t heard of many people being sued on Amazon for selling
things, it’s very, very rare, however, it can happen. Mine is about a thousand dollars a month and that’s with higher sales, it depends on how much you sell and then you will need a little logo. So even if you don’t have an LLC, you do need a logo. So what we’re doing is
called private labeling, so, we’re putting our logo on kind of a generic
product and selling it. Reason being, is that
way people can’t jump in on our Amazon listings
and say they’re selling the same exact thing and
try and take our sales by cutting our price. So, that’s why you need a logo. Doesn’t have to be legit,
my logo is literally the name typed out with a little image. It can just be your name, if you want, on the product or the
packaging, it’s very simple. If you don’t know what to do, get someone on Fiverr,
pay five bucks, do that. So, that’s step one,
that’s the boring part. Most of you probably already know that. Step two, you need to find
what you’re gonna sell. So, you have your Amazon account set up. How do we find products? So there’s a lot of
different tools you can use. I use Jungle Scout, there’s
a couple other methods. I have videos that go in
depth on product research and lot more in depth in my course as well but Jungle Scout’s a good place to start if you’re new or just
figuring out what to look for. So, we found our product,
we know the criteria we’re looking for, so, let’s say we want 10 sales a day at 10 dollars profit. So we’re looking to make
100 dollars of profit a day. We need to look in X price range. We need to look for X
amount of reviews or lower, and we need X amount of sales or higher. If a product meets all that criteria, that whole kind of product market, we know it’s a good one. Now one thing to look out for when looking for products,
guys, is gated categories. If you Google Amazon
gated categories list, it’ll come up and show you. Certain categories like beauty, used to be health and personal care, they changed a little
bit, sexual wellness, grocery and food are gated categories. Those are difficult ones to get into. You need approval, you
need to show multiple statements from suppliers, wow, why am I forgetting the word? Multiple product statements from suppliers showing you purchased them. If it’s grocery and
food, they need certain certifications or approvals,
you need that, however, most products don’t need
that in other categories, so, don’t even worry about that. Now smaller other categories
that are pretty easy are automatic approval so you’ll apply, you pretty much get approved, automotive, clothing, shoes, watches, jewelry, handbags, stuff like that but I never sell on those anyway when private labeling,
it’s hard to do shirts and things of that nature, so, usually don’t have to worry but make sure you know there are gated categories and you know what they are when searching. Next thing we need to
do, we found our product, we found one that’s good,
we need to find a supplier. So a lot of people are
intimidated by this process. They don’t know what to
do, they think they need to do a lot of phone calls and stuff. You never have to call anyone, it’s all done through email, so, all you do is go to a
website called Alibaba.com, that’s the biggest one,
only one I really ever use, and you just search what
product you’re looking for. There will be a whole list with a bunch of pictures and prices and you can see and you can contact multiple
suppliers for quotes. If you don’t know what to say, I do have a, kind of,
template of what I say in the course, however,
it’s pretty simple, you just tell them what you want, where you wanna ship to,
how many units you want, and what kind of shipping. So, one thing to look out for on Alibaba, you can search if they’re a gold supplier, if they have Trade Assurance, now it just means they’re more reputable. Lot of people think there’s a lot of scammers on Alibaba. If you’re looking under Trade Assurance and gold suppliers, there’s
usually not, however, if you go through PayPal
or Trade Assurance when you make a purchase, now Trade Assurance is Alibaba’s version of, kind of, safe payments, so, if they scam you, you can file a dispute and get your money back, same with PayPal, so it’s safe to order through those, you can always get your money back. If they do rip you off for some reason. I’ve never experienced that. I don’t know many people
who have, just one or two but always make sure you’re doing it through PayPal or Trade
Assurance, either is fine. Never do wire transfers unless you’ve worked with the supplier before. And that brings me to the
next thing which is shipping. So do you wanna do air shipping? Do you wanna do sea shipping? Air shipping is faster, it
costs a little bit more. Sea shipping can take two to three months. It’s a longer process and
there’s a lot more things that go into it, you need to do customs, you need to do duties, you
need to do a lot of stuff. Whereas if you’re getting
air shipping door to door, which is what I always get, you don’t have to deal with any of that. The supplier handles it all. It goes from them straight
to Amazon’s doorstep. You don’t have to do anything. You don’t need to pay for it. You don’t have to sign
customs, taxes, anything. They handle it all, so,
I always do air shipping door to door, now, if you’re wondering, “Oh, that sounds pricey. “How much do I need to start all this?” With air shipping door to door, your first product and everything, a thousand dollars is usually good to get started for your first product and that’s usually a batch
of 250 to 500 units, so. Make sure you know, you’ll
hear some terms on Amazon like FOB, which stands
for Freight On Board, that’s sea shipping. You’ll hear EXW, which
just a form of, kind of, it can be either shipping but usually you’ll hear EXW with door
to door and that is fine. Now we found our supplier,
we have our shipping terms, we know everything now. Now, what’s next? We need to create our listing. Now this is before we pay our
supplier and do everything. So when creating a listing,
you do need a UPC code. So how do you get that, how
much is it, where do you go? I use Barcode Mania, it’s
five dollars for one barcode and that works for all of one product. So if you 10,000 units,
you need one barcode. But if you have five different products, one unit each, you need
five different barcodes. So each product or each
variation of a product, you do need a new barcode,
they’re five dollars. Now what do you do with this barcode? When you create a listing,
it’ll ask for product ID. You change it to say UPC code and then that is when you put
your UPC code in your listing. Then you go create your
title, your bullet points. I go over, kind of, how
to do all that and images. So, how do you get your pictures if it’s in China and you
never touch the product? Well your supplier will normally have a lot of good images, however, you wanna make sure your logo is on them. So when you order make
sure you do ask them to put your logo on and
have a UPC code on there for the price, I did forget to say that. But how do you get images? So supplier will normally
have some good ones. You can just photoshop your logo onto ’em or you can send one unit to
a professional photographer. So as soon as your inventory gets in, you create a removal
order, costs 50 cents, you send it to the
photographer to take pictures. Takes a couple days and then
you have professional pictures if you want them. Now we’ve created our listing
for our product, what’s next? We need to create a shipping plan. So this is what we need to do so Amazon knows when
our inventory’s coming, where it’s coming from, and how much. So when we’re creating the shipping plan, we put our UPC code, so, people get very confused
with the UPC code. After you buy your barcode
from Barcode Mania, you put that number in your
listing, you’re done with it. Throw that number away, you don’t need it. So all you need in your shipping plan, it’s gonna ask you for the box weight, the box dimensions, how many boxes, and how many units in each box. You can get all that from your supplier. You will need your supplier’s address. Now this can be confusing with China but, again, Google is your friend. It’ll ask you province,
city, and district in China. You can ask your supplier
exactly what they are ’cause they way they’re listed, sometimes it’s confusing but you put their address in there, you put their name, their contact info, which they’ll give you, and that is when you’re done creating your shipping plan and then when you’re done with that, you do something on there. So you go onto your
listing when you made it and you print item labels. Now it will pull up a
barcode looking thing with your title under it
and the little number on top that’s called the ASIN, that’s how Amazon tracks it, and that is what you send to your supplier to put on each individual unit. So that is the barcode you send to them not the one from Barcode Mania. We’re done with that, remember. So after you’re done with all that, you need to send your supplier some information for them to ship it. So, like I said, the Amazon item label, we need to go and print that, send them it online. You can just take a picture of it and then you send it on there. They need our logo to put on the packaging and we need to send them the box label. So at the end of your shipping plan, you will get box labels
and you just send those to your supplier. If you have 10 boxes, you’ll
get 10 different pages for it and each one goes on each box and then you send them the Amazon
address in your shipping plan that Amazon will provide for you. So that’s pretty much
the back end process. There are a couple other things, guys. So the first thing after
we’re done with all that, we’re just waiting for our product to get to Amazon now. So how do we know when our
product arrives into Amazon? The way we know our
product arrives in Amazon, they will send you an email normally but you can go in under inventory and see when it gets there. As soon as it does, we need to go about trying to get it ranked. So how are we gonna get it sales? Depends what your game plan is, there’s a couple different strategies. Are you gonna do a giveaway
and create coupons? Are you gonna do pay
per click advertising, which is Amazon’s advertising or what are you gonna do? And then after that
when it starts selling, your product’s selling,
last thing you need to do is make sure you stay in stock. So all you do is contact your supplier when you need more, make
sure you don’t run out and that’s pretty much it from there. Now it’s a little bit longer video, guys. Those are just, don’t want that anyway. Those are just the basics of this. It does need to be a
little bit more in depth with the product research and whatnot but that’s the order you
need to do things in. I know a lot of people
get scattered with Amazon not knowing the order. I hope that was helpful. If you are interested, like I said before, I do have a course on Amazon. If you’re new to my channel, make sure you watch
some of my other videos before looking at the course or whatnot and let me know what information you guys wanna see next or if
you have any questions, feel free to leave them in the comments and I’ll see you guys in the next video.
